OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Course E-learning Mode (Enrollment from India)
OSHA 10 hours Construction Industry training is designed for entry level construction workers, this course would give them adequate knowledge on their rights, responsibilities of employer, filing complaint, how to identify /minimize/ avoid potential hazards in construction site etc. during this course candidates would come to know various construction health and safety hazard which a worker may come across at constriction site.
This training contains identification of hazards, effective ways to avoid and control hazards, prevention techniques etc. and not OSHA standards.
Total course period is of minimum 10 hours.

International Association of Safety Professionals (IASP) provides training , third party certifications, consultative services that verify skills and knowledge as well the abilities of workplace safety.
The ultimate mission of IASP is to offer latest and innovative training facilities and professional certifications which exceed basic OSHA compliance to safety professionals that helps them to carry out safety related activities and functions with enough confidence and competency.
The minimum topic requirements are as follows:
Mandatory – 7 hours
Introduction to OSHA – 2 hours.
- Employee rights, employer responsibilities, procedure to file a complaint. It also contains workers health and safety resources. This also includes sample weekly fatality and catastrophe report, safety datasheet, OSHA work – related injuries and illness, OSHA Form 300 etc.
- Materials contains instruction guide, PPTs, student handouts, participants activities etc.
OSHA Focus Four Hazards – 4 hours.
Most of the construction fatalities are because of fall hazards, this topic must be covered for minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Focus Four Hazards should be covered minimum for one- half hour each
- Falls (minimum 1 hour and 15 minutes)
- Electrocution
- Struck-By (e.g., falling objects, trucks, cranes)
- Caught-In or Between (e.g., trench hazards, equipment)
Focus Four Hazards Training Requirements
Each lesson for Focus Four Hazard are supposed to use following terminal objectives (TO) and Enabling Objectives (EO)
TO: Gives current information on OSHA and construction industry illness/ injuries/fatalities. Learners will be able to recognize fall/caught in – between, struck by, electrocution etc. at construction worksite
For each of focus four learners would be able to
EO 1: Identify major hazards
EO 2: Describe types of hazards
EO 3: Protect him/herself from these hazards
EO 4: Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from these hazards
The above mentioned objectives are expected as student outcomes, trainers:
- May not vary from the course objectives while planning the training session and
- Should follow participatory training model by effectively applying training techniques
- Ensure the objectives are measures by validating student’s achievement
Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment – 30 minutes.
Health Hazards in Construction – 30 minutes.
This teaches about noise, hazard communication, crystalline silica and other potential construction hazard
Elective – 2 hours.
Should contain minimum 2 hours of training on following topics, in which at least 2 topics must be presented
For the below topics minimum teaching hour should be one – half hour
- Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators, & Conveyors
- Excavations
- Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal
- Scaffolds
- Stairways and Ladders
- Tools – Hand and Power
Optional – 1 hour.
Educate other construction industry hazards, policies and expand on both elective and mandatory topics.
The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.
Assessment Criteria:Learners of OSHA 10 hours construction safety training program is assessed with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) after they successfully complete mandatory learning hours. Candidate with minimum of 70% is considered as pass and they shall be processed for certification. If the candidate fails to score required marks they should undergo the assessment again , get pass and attain the certification
